YOKE is happy to introduce you to our newest team member, Nick Marshall. Nick hails from Orlando, Florida, and enjoys playing sports, hiking, canoeing, and spending time with kids. Nick is a middle child with four brothers and sisters and grew up the grandson of a pastor.

Nick started his college career at Johnson University FL where he majored in Business Management and played on the basketball team. After a couple of years there, he sensed God calling him to live out his faith in a more active way and to pursue his interest in community development, but he had no clue what that might look like. He began to dream about starting his own nonprofit organization and made the decision to transfer to Johnson TN and change his major to Nonprofit Management.

Nick knew that moving to Tennessee from Florida would change his life, but didn’t understand how and/or to what extent. He fell in love with Tennessee right away, not only for its beautiful scenery, but also for the many great community organizations he found that were striving to make a difference in the lives of young leaders. It was through an internship with Johnson’s Future of Hope program that Nick first learned about YOKE.

“I’m so excited to be a part of the YOKE team and to serve as area director of urban schools,” said Nick. “I’m looking forward to walking alongside the team as we invest in future leaders and strive to mentor and guide middle school students. More importantly, though, I’m excited to be a part of an organization that allows me to live out my faith every day.”
As area director for urban schools, Nick currently coordinates YOKE’s ministry at Vine, Whittle Springs, Northwest and South Doyle Middle Schools. His main role is to equip and encourage the team leaders, recruit and train volunteers, and foster YOKE’s relationships with those local school administrators.
