The Karns YOKE club had an awesome year this past year. "One thing that stands out to me from this past year was an epic Messy Club," says team leader, Ara Langford. “Karns took it to a whole new level this year. I saw one parent have their kid peel off his clothes before he got into the car afterward. What a fun way to end the year of clubs!”
Ara also pointed out that her team of leaders really grew close this year, growing in their faith, leading the clubs, pouring into the Karns students, and encouraging each other. "We have a great YOKE family at Karns," she said.
Makenzey, one of the Karns YOKE Folk said her favorite activity this year was the cookout. "We had the kids get to club an hour early to eat hot dogs and hamburgers, play corn hole, and just have fun together. After our cookout, we had tailgate club, which included a redneck ring toss (with toilet seats), a corn hole relay, a sunflower seed spitting contest, and a hot dog eating contest. The kids had so much fun, and so did the leaders! It was one of our biggest clubs of the semester, with over 20 kids in attendance (which meant they got to pie a Yoke Folk). It's a Kid Time activity that will become a tradition at Karns Middle!"
Her sister, Mikayala is also a YOKE Folk at Karns. "We have to give a shout out to Jeremiah Abernathy for winning CHUG at camp this past Spring! He beat the chug champions from 13 other middle school clubs. We’ve had an awesome group all year long," she added. "At the All County Club in March, Karns won the Spirit Award, beating out all of the other Knox County clubs. It was a fun night complete with Emily Ann Roberts singing and sharing her story, crazy games and a power outage."
