Recently one of our YOKE teams had the unique opportunity of spending spring break together on a mission trip. Our Farragut Team Leader, YOKE Folk, and YOKE kids spent five days in Cleveland, Ohio.

Together, they prayed through neighborhoods notorious for crime and violence, helped renovate the basement of the church they were partnering with, and walked through a popular shopping area handing out flyers and asking people if they could pray for them.

Sarah Jackson, a YOKE Folk at Farragut said, “It was such a blessing seeing my YOKE kids on the mission field.” Sarah has been with some of her YOKE kids since they were in the sixth grade, and she really enjoyed seeing their growth and maturity while serving alongside them. She loved that they are really beginning to experience and understand the great commission and what it means to love and serve others. In fact, one of her YOKE kids was so moved by the experience that she wanted to come back and serve in Knoxville. Sarah said, “She has a real heart for downtown and for serving the homeless. It was neat to see her take ownership when she got home and start packing bags to hand out to the homeless here in Knoxville.”

YOKE is currently looking for volunteers like Sarah for the 2017-2018 school year. If you are interested in getting involved and impacting the lives of middle school kids visit our volunteer page or contact us at yoke@yokeyouth.com for more information.
